Worship

Liturgy of the Word with Children

LWC is a worship experience offered to all children in grades kindergarten through fifth. We celebrate LWC during the 10:00 am Mass each Sunday. There are only a few Sundays during the year when LWC is not offered.

What happens during LWC?

During LWC the children are led from the church to our large conference room. Music is played as the children are welcomed into the space. A candle is lit, the First Reading is proclaimed by a student leader, we sing the Alleluia, and the Gospel is proclaimed by an adult leader.

We encourage the children to talk about the readings and understand what God’s message is and the importance of being “Children of God”. We talk about God’s unconditional love and praise with one another! The children return to the church to carry the gifts to the altar, and they are encouraged to bring canned food to Mass. These cans are placed near the altar during the Presentation of the Gifts. The children then return to their parents.

Volunteers

Adult leaders and adult assistants are invited to help with LWC, as well as student leaders and helpers. For more information on LWC, see the contact information below.

All adult volunteers are required to complete a criminal background check and attend a Protecting Gods Children workshop.
