Catholics in the Public Square
Catholics in the Public Square (CPS) is an organization of faithful lay Catholics formed in response to Pope John Paul II’s outreach to the laity and to the U.S. Catholic Bishops’ pastoral letter Living the Gospel of Life: A Challenge to American Catholics.
Conscious of the great need for a Catholic voice to be heard in the Public Square, CPS is dedicated to bringing Catholic teaching and values to bear on our culture.
Every believer is called to faithful citizenship, to become an informed, active and responsible participant in the political process. With full belief in Christ’s gift of the Magisterium, we submit ourselves to the authority of the Catholic Church and actively strive to remain faithful to the Church, guided by our Spiritual Director, Fr. John Riccardo of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
